We will be open for submissions starting May 1, 2020

Steel House Review accepts fiction, nonfiction, and poetry from May 1 through October 15, with publication in December. While we do not adhere to thematic requirements and welcome a wide variety of style, form, and genre, we ask that submitted work be original, thought-provoking, and tasteful.

All submissions must include a cover letter with your first and last name, a short bio, and title of work. Please submit to the correct form. Cover letter may include a brief list of genres, which may be used as a sorting feature on our site. Submission piece must be attached in a .doc or .docx file.

Submissions must adhere to the following guidelines and formatting:

Fiction & Nonfiction  

• 3000 word maximum
• Readable 12pt font 
• Double spaced

​  Poetry  

• One to three poems, totaling seven pages or less
• Readable 12pt font                                                                                                                  

We will accept one submission per person per three months. 

Simultaneous submissions are acceptable. Please label them as such in your submission and notify Steel House Review immediately upon their acceptance and publication elsewhere.

Please use discretion when submitting content with mature themes. Mature content is acceptable so long as it appears tastefully and with purpose.

Steel House Review holds first and one time publication rights only, to include corresponding issues of digital publication. No previously published material will be accepted. Steel House Review is currently a web-based literary journal only.

Because we operate with a small number of staff, we are unable to respond to inquiries about submission status.
